Join the mums of the Sunshine Coast Multiple Birth Association to celebrate life as a mum of multiples. We have two events on offer this year, or one quite long event for those who are keen! First event: The club will be putting on afternoon tea at The Sands Tavern from 3:30pm.  Come and mingle, meet other mums and take a few hours of kid-free adult time. Second event: From 6pm we will be testing our ball skills at Drag Queen Bingo at The Sands Tavern. The club will purchase your ticket, you just need to bring yourself and a sense of fun. You are welcome to come along to just one part of the afternoon/evening or join us for both.  Please RSVP as we need to organise catering and purchase tickets in advance. *This is a kid-free event, although if you have young babies that need care, they are welcome (plenty of arms for cuddling will be available).*

Multiple Birth Awareness Week Celebration
Sunshine Coast Playgroup Hub (formally Mons Playgroup Centre)
9:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Our socials are the place to be! Meet new multi-parent friends, let the kids play across the fenced acre of outdoor space and enjoy a bonanza of bubbles, some old fashioned party games - plus snacks!!! We're hosting all families with multiples, whether or not they are financial members of the club. Sunshine Coast MBA is promoting its peer support network and also demonstrating advocacy, one of the pillars of the national organisation. This year's theme is 'Educate the Educators' Some of the unique considerations for families and professionals to consider include: Classroom placement - whether to split them or keep them together - is one of the biggest dilemmas faced by parents of multiples. School readiness - with 65% of twins and 95% of higher order multiples born prematurely and higher rates of developmental delays, the decision about when multiples start, can be more difficult. Being treated as individuals - ensuring professionals and the general community, acknowledge multiples as separate entities and avoid comparisons or labels. Fostering individuality - encouraging and supporting multiples to develop their own unique personalities, friendships and interests. Respecting the multiple bond - understanding and fostering the unique bond that twins, triplets or more have and supporting them through transitions that involve separation. Additional family stressors - awareness of the increased rates of mental health issues and financial strain amongst multiple birth families.

New Date for Yoga in the Park
Eleanor Shipley Park
9:45 AM – 10:45 AM
**RESCHEDULED DATE** The Mooloolaba Triathlon is running this morning and Sunshine Motorway is closed between Coolum and Mooloolaba Road.   Sarah will have yoga mats and post-partum pelvic floor books (both $25) available to purchase at the event.   You're invited to an Integrated Therapeutic Movement session by physiotherapist and yoga instructor Sarah Korzeba. It's an outdoor, COVID-safe event, so all those attending are asked to bring their own yoga mat, towel, water bottle, sunscreen and wear sun-safe clothing.  Sarah will have some mats available for purchase if you don't have one.  This session is suitable for all levels of fitness: expectant mums, dads and post partum. We ask you arrive at least 15 minutes early to fill out Sarah's health questionnaire. This is a child-free event, however, if you cannot find care for your children, one of our members will be on hand to help supervise your children at the adjacent playground. This event is one of a series of outdoor events planned by the Sunshine Coast MBA in 2022, thanks to a grant from the Queensland Government. Please select a free ticket for each adult attending.  RSVP by 25 February.  Sarah is also providing a free at-home program for those who are unable to attend.  This will be emailed to all members following the event. It is a fair-weather event. The decision to postpone due to forecast rain will be made by 8am on the day, and will be communicated by email and Facebook. In the event of rain, we will reschedule to a later date.

Weekend Playgroup
Grahame Stewart Park
9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Our first ever weekend Playgroup is coming! This park in Currimundi has something for everyone!  There's plenty of shade and grass for our littlest members, an all-ability playspace and changing facilities, a dedicated track for bikes and scooters, basketball hoop for the older children and loads of open grass to kick a footy.  And the best part is the fence around this massive park to keep safe the houdini toddlers. To keep it simple for our volunteers, and keep it safe in the era of COVID, we ask our families to BYO a picnic rug, and all the snacks and drinks you need to ward off the hangrys.  Keep an eye on our Facebook members page on the day for a pic, so you know where to find us! Our aim is to run weekend playgroups so all families have the chance to meet up with other parents who truly understand life with multiples.  If you know another fabulous park on the Sunshine Coast with a fence (this is a must) please let us know, we can try different venues in future to keep it interesting and accessible for all.

Expecting Parents Information Session
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Our Expectant Parents Info Session is moving online for the time being. We are aware that our expecting families are facing an anxious time as covid spreads through the coast, and pregnant mothers are taking extra precautions.   As much as we would like to meet face-to-face, it's not the safest option at the moment, so we would like to offer an online option to meet other multiple families and have all of your questions answered until the situation settles.  Please let us know if you can attend on Zoom!  Link to the meeting to come
